Bearding

Bees do it. I don't know why. Five minutes later they were all back inside. Maybe it's like a fire drill.

  1. I have seen mine do this at the bottom where the entrance it but it's probably not the same thing. They just can't make up there mind if there coming or going, I think. Are these the new bees? How are they doing so far? I am having SO much fun watching mine all the time. I can't get enough of them.

    1. This is the hive I've had for 2 years. Last year it gave me about 7 gal of honey.

I have tried to keep 2 hives, but have had two other hives collapse on me over the years. I am picking up two 4lb packages next month.

How many hives do you have? DO you cook a lot with honey? I think I would lie to, but I like my sugar!!

    1. This is the only hive right now. I've had 2 others collapse over the years. I am picking up two 4lb packages of bees next month. Hopefully, they'll survive!

Bee keeping is very expensive and it's heartbreaking to lose hives. These 2 packages with be my last attempts to expand.

I don't do a lot of baking (no time) so I don't use the honey too much in cooking. I use it to sweeten tea and ferment it into mead though.
